About Us

At Stormhaven Youth Ranch we rescue horses. From the neglected to the abused, to the lonely and forgotten, we provide a safe haven where they can learn to trust and love again. No matter what the children are facing in their lives they can run away to a little ranch where horses and children bond, offering each other that hope and unconditional love that we all yearn for in our unstable world.
Frequently Asked Questions

2Q: What kind of children does the ranch serve?
A: Ages 6-18. Being a kid these days is hard. Children from all walks of life are welcome.
Q: What do you charge?
A: Nothing. It’s free. All we ask is that the children WANT to come and participate.
Q: When are you open?
A: We are primarily a day program open to the public by appointment only. Our regular business hours are Mon-Thur 2-6:30 p.m. and occasional Saturdays are for small groups only. Our season runs from March until mid-November.
Q: Are you a religious organization?
A: Yes. We are a non-profit, faith-based ministry founded on the same Christian values our nation was built upon. The founders, Board of Directors and staff all believe in God and the saving grace of His Son, Jesus Christ. We wish to serve children of all backgrounds and demonstrate the love of Christ and the relationship He desires to have with each of us.
Q: How does my child participate?
A: We ask that parents or guardians accompany children under 13. A parent’s presence is often vital to a child’s healing process. We desire to aid families and offer a place of rest and solitude as we work one-on-one with their child. We do not provide transportation to and from the ranch.
Q: How do I donate to the ranch?
A: Please visit our HOW TO HELP page for ideas on how to donate. There are many ways. SYR is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and can provide tax receipts.
Q: How do I volunteer?
A: We are accepting volunteer applications and will gladly find areas in which you can serve. Individual or group help is always needed. Just contact us—We do not supply food or housing but have plenty of jobs available. Visit our HOW TO HELP-VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES page to learn more.
Q: What do the children do at the ranch?
A: Working one-on-one with a leader, they will work with the horses, play with the horses, and when ready, learn to ride them if they wish. There are many other activities at the ranch also—it’s a place to come be a kid.
