YeeHaw - A New Season Begins

Children under 13 years old must have an adult parent present. In order to work with children and horses, a training season must be completed. This also includes adults. Check the monthly calendar regularly for the ranch schedule updates.
PARKING– For the safety of all involved at the ranch, we ask that all vehicles park in the grass area (not past the gravel track) by the gate entrance. Please do not park on the street. Vehicles displaying a visible Handicapped Parking Permit may drive up the driveway only. Please be cautious, watching for children and horses.
WHAT TO BRING– Participating Children: Layers of weather-appropriate clothes, a personal water bottle (to be stored at picnic area), sunscreen, closed-toe/heel shoes, pants if riding.

- All persons must have a current 2021 release form on file. Please visit or contact the office.
- Volunteers must also have a current Volunteer application on file. Please visit or contact the office.
- Adults must stay when child participating is under 13 years old. Siblings under 6 must be supervised by adults in playground area, or in car with adult. This is for your safety, as horses are moved around frequently. If no little ones to watch, please feel free to watch your children’s sessions from the picnic area.
- Failure to show up for a session without notice may forfeit your spot and be given to another child. We will not have our phones on us at the ranch, due to distraction, so please call ahead earlier in the day.
- All riders must wear helmets.
- Closed toe/heel shoes are required.
- No hand-feeding the horses.
- Clean up after yourself.
- You must have a leader with you to enter pens or buildings.
HOURLY SESSIONS - One-on-one with a leader, children aged 6-12 participate in a 1-hour session that includes games, chores and horse-time. By appointment only. Parents must stay.
Summer Session: Monday-Wednesday 4:00pm-5:00pm OR 5:30pm-6:30pm

JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS - For girls, aged 13-15 (by invitation only) for mentoring and future leadership training. Thursdays from 4:00pm-6:30pm.
VOLUNTEER AS A FAMILY OR GROUP - Painting fences, scooping poo, landscape work, grooming horses, construction projects…Come spend time as a family serving the ranch. Call to register.
VOLUNTEERS WORKING WITH THE CHILDREN - The role of working one-on-one with children in sessions and training/riding our horses are reserved for staff and senior volunteers only. SYR incorporates a specific horsemanship technique to provide unity and routine among our leaders and within herd relationships. Training is available each year for those positions from March-May and requires a commitment of at least one full year (March-November) of volunteering.
